One paragraph from the last chapter of OMTL Book says – “Nothing great ever happens without passion. The driving force behind all masterful art, all moving music, all classic literature, all powerful drama, all stunning architecture is passion. Passion propels athletes to break records, passion pushes scientist to discover new cures for diseases. Passion drives us to share the love of God in creative and innovative ways- passion is what gives life to life.
Knowing the creative power of passion, let us be aware of the many “passion killers” the enemy use to rob us of our effectiveness and spiritual legacy. Let us look at 3 of such passion killers starting with the letter B;
1. Bitterness—“Bitterness” is usually associated with anger and grudges. Hebrews 12:15 says that “See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness, springing up, causes trouble, and by it many be defiled”? Bitterness has the ability to poison and defile our soul.
2. Busyness— “Busyness” is often wrongly equate with success or importance—as if the world will be a lesser place without your busyness. Psalms 37:7 says “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”
The Hebrew word translated “Be still” has a broader range of meaning than to “stop making noise”. The scope of the original word includes the renderings of, “to let drop, abandon, relax, refrain, forsake, to let go, to refrain, let alone, to be quiet.”
3. Burn-out— This is often caused by unrealistic expectations; setbacks or constant neglect to refill one’s spiritual and emotional reserves. Like our 3rd session on “Love Completely”; – to live a loving life is like climbing Mount Everest!– beyond a certain height we need extra help such as seasoned guides and oxygen tank. Learning to refill and to feed ourselves spiritually and emotionally is the secret of staying passionate and effective for the kingdom.
Let us make our life counts for eternity and remind ourselves that “Only one life twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last...”
